BLOEMFONTEIN - The state has argued that the High Court in Pretoria made an error in Oscar Pistorius' trial and ignored certain circumstantial evidence.
Prosecutor Gerrie Nel wants the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) to convict the athlete of murder, based on the evidence during the 2014 trial.
Pistorius was convicted of culpable homicide after killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, he has since been released from prison after serving less than a year.
He is currently under house arrest at his uncle’s Waterkloof mansion.
Nel says there is no indication in Judge Thokozile Masipa’s judgment that the circumstantial evidence was either accepted or rejected.
Nel has argued the court ignored the most important evidence that would make Pistorius' version of events improbable.

Judge Steven Majiedt says it’s troubling how Masipa dealt with expert witness Chris Mangena’s evidence.
He says the court found Mangena was a good witness, yet accepted part of Pistorius’ version which was contradictory.
Nel also argued there are several errors of law and the court allowed Pistorius to have several defences, and then picked one for him.
