Still no tombstone for Senzo Meyiwa

 More than a year after Senzo Meyiwa’s death and funeral, there is still no tombstone erected for the former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper and captain who was honoured with a provincial state funeral.

His grave, which is next to Nat Nakasa’s, remains a just heap of sand at the Heroes' Acre in Chesterville, Durban, according to a Daily Sun report on Thursday.
The newspaper reported on Monday about how visitors to Meyiwa’s burial site were shocked to see his grave had not been honoured with a tombstone.
Former Orlando Pirates captain Jimmy Tau, who runs a tombstone business, told the paper he offered to erect one for Meyiwa but was told by the club that the eThekwini Municipality was taking care of that.
The municipality’s Head of Parks and Cemeteries, Thembinkosi Ngcobo, denied this and said that the erection of the tombstones in KZN is the responsibility of the family and that it is normally done after a year.
Senzo’s brother, Sifiso, told the paper there were no immediate plans to erect a tombstone on his brother’s grave.
